Evening Flying

At the last committee meeting the issue of flying after 8pm was discussed, we have decided to relax the rule provided the following is strictly adhered to.

On your own recognisance, no models that are deemed louder than normal will be aloud to fly after 8pm. Otherwise the site can be used up to 9pm (try upping the prop size to slow down the engine and as a consequence reducing noise) We do have a foot note to this, if members are found to be abusing this relaxation of the evening flying rule we may withdraw this privilege altogether. This matter should be self policing, We hope this is satisfactory to our members!

Starting tables

Our Thanks to Mr Ian Coaker and Mr Iain Angus for taking the time to go to the timber merchant, buy the materials and then make two substantial starting tables.

Our thanks to Mr Clyde Harris for supplying the drawings and Mr Glen Fletcher for actually sponsoring the whole thing and paying for all the materials etc. Thanks to you all, Much appreciated

Training

We have several  new members requiring one-2-one training,  over the last few weeks or months it has been left to one or two members to do all the training. We are therefore asking for volunteers to help with the training, all we ask is you give up some time on a Sunday. At the moment we have approx six new members with one trainer running between them. If you are willing to help out please just turn up early on the Sunday.

We are organising a Tuesday night as the clubs training night, new or old members looking for help, advice or a bit of one-2-one training should come along between 6pm and 9pm (summer months only) again to deliver this service to our members we need volunteers to help with the training etc.

How to Find Us

We are now located on the B757 Birdston Road about half way between Kirkintilloch and Milton of Campsie. From Kirkintilloch we are about 1 1/2 miles from MacDonald’s, just before the village of Birdston, you will see the 30 MPH speed signs,  we are on the LEFT thru the RED gate.

We now have a purpose built field, which is well maintained with virtually no obstructions. As we share with the local gun club, there are some restrictions at the field; usually the first Sunday of the month is gun club only. With exception to the gun club we have access 10am to 8pm every day

We accommodate most types of radio controlled model aircraft, including fixed wing, multi-engine, helicopters, glider etc.

The club is affiliated to the SAA and operate to their safety code and achievement scheme.

If you would like to join our club or ask us about model flying, send us an email.

The Entrance Road

After several days of had work the road is now cleaner, smoother and ultimately safer to drive along,  however we would like to point out that the road does have a speed limit of 10MPH, this is imposed by the land owner, we would be grateful if you adhere to this limit.

The hill is now smooth with no tyre ruts of any kind; this will be pleasing to hear by those members that have very low slung sports cars, so no exhausts being ripped off by protruding boulders. This may pose a dilemma by these drivers, as how do you get your big models up to the field in those types of cars?

The Field

The main runway is looking better and better every day, with run off areas and everything being well maintained. The facilities are second to none; so it is surprising that with a membership of over 40 we only see a dozen regular members turning up each week! Where have the rest of you gone??

We now have starting areas with purpose built starting tables, the benches are used only for assembly of your models “no starting of models Please” all models should be placed along the safety fence once assembled or flown ready for your next flight away from the starting areas and assembly tables.
