Flying  Site Rules

Kirkintilloch

1. Any pilot using the Airstrip must, as well as producing evidence of insurance. (This can be achieved by placing your SAA or equivalent card on the peg board) also do a range check, a complete check of all the components and fitments including the direction of all control surfaces on their model.

2.  Never switch on your transmitter until you have obtained the necessary frequency control peg. Your SAA Insurance or equivalent card must be slotted in the peg board. Relinquish the peg as soon as you are able. Both 35 MHz and 2.4 GHz users must obtain a peg.

3. All unqualified members shall be supervised at all times. The use of a buddy box is the preferred method of teaching. New or unqualified members are not allowed to fly solo at any time. A respected and qualified member of the club will assess the new pilot’s ability (mock test) then if deemed competent, will arrange for that member to site their test.

4. Unqualified members may only use models which are powered by engines up to .46 two stroke, .55 four stroke

5. All pilots must stand in the designated pilot stance area

6. Models should be assembled on the "assembly tables". When starting your model, you must use the provided starting tables, once started either carry or taxi model out to the flight line (depending on size and ability to hold model). Under no circumstances should models be started on the assembly tables. No model should be carries whilst running thru the pit area, no model whilst running or otherwise shall be carried thru the pilot stance. Tune the model in the designated tuning area, pointing away from the Pits.

7. As per SAA guide lines, no flying behind ones self, e.g. over the pits or car park, no flying circles around ones self, models that develop a fault must be downed immediately, never try to “save” the model when others may be put at risk, never fly when full vision or dexterity may be compromised, any deliberate infringement will result in the pilots immediate grounding.      

8. When light conditions permit the flying of powered aircraft is restricted to 9pm, electric flight can be used at any time light permitting

9. No flying over the trees to the RIGHT of the flight line or over the golf coarse

10. No flying over the trees to the Left of the flight line, this puts you over the entrance road. A marker has been positioned to the left of the flight line; pilots must keep to the right of this marker. all pilots must fly within the confines of the fields, under no circumstances should pilots fly over any roads or buildings.

11. All take-offs landings and “dead stick” calls must be called prior to being performed. All “dead stick” calls have priority over other calls.

12. Take-offs, landing etc. must be completed at least 4-5 meters in front of the pilot stance

13. Beginners may stand to the rear of the model for initial training. Thereafter stand between the model and the Pilot Stance at a sufficient distance to allow you to hear calls. Take off; do not allow the model to veer across the Flight Line or Heli Hover Practice area. If necessary abort the take off and ditch the model with a good margin of safety.

14. Do not taxi in the pit area; do not carry running models or otherwise thru the pilot stance. Depending on wind direction pilots entering or leaving the field must carry or guide their models either to the left or right of the safety fence

15. Foul, abusive language or bullying will not be tolerated, offenders will be warned, any continuing out burst shall be warned in writing, further out bursts will render the offender liable to expulsion with no refund of any fees paid. 

16.  Any member of the club found causing deliberate damage to property not belonging to him will be immediately expelled from the club with no refund of any fees paid.

 17. All members are requested, that while they are flying or a spectator on the flying site that they conduct themselves in a manner which will encourage, young or old members of the public to consider taking up the sport and give any assistance in this way.

18. All personal rubbish must be removed from the flying site

19. No member is permitted to bring onto the land or flying site, any pets.

20. Tea and coffee are provided free for your enjoyment, please keep the kitchen area clean and tidy.

21. No toilet facilities are provided at the field. However, MacDonald’s is less than 2 Mins from the field.

22. FPV or “first person view” operated models. anyone wishing to use this type of model, must be operated via a “Buddy” facility as per BMFA & SAA guide lines. all pilots must fly within the confines of the fields, under no circumstances should pilots fly over any roads or buildings.
